The Chief of Police supervises and coordinates the activities of members of the police department.  The Chief recommends hiring, firing, and is responsible for disciplining employees.  The Chief is also in charge of budgeting and purchasing for the police department.  The Chief reviews each case, creates the employee work schedule, and prepares the payroll.  In additions, the Chief also maintains order, enforces laws and ordinances, and protects life and property within the city.

  • Serve and protects the public through the enforcement of all law;
  • Provides further service and protection to the public by being a state certified first responder;
  • Plans, directs, inspects, and exercises supervision over personnel;
  • Supervises and evaluates departmental employees;
  • Oversees and reviews timesheets;
  • Oversees the development and implementation of personnel training;
  • Formulates and enforces departmental rules and regulations;
  • Reviews activities and reports of officers and enforces disciplinary measures;
  • Directs the investigation of major criminal offenses;
  • Prepares budget estimates and controls expenditures of the department;
  • Coordinates law enforcement efforts with other law enforcement agencies;
  • Performs general public relations work;
  • Attends city commission meetings and presents reports;
  • Patrols streets of business and residential districts;
  • Arrests individuals who violate the laws and ordinances
