Electric Lineman, City of Sterling

The City of Sterling, located in Central Kansas along K-14/ K-96, 50 min. northwest of Wichita, is accepting applications for the position of Electric Lineman. Sterling has a population of approximately 2,500 citizens and is home to Sterling College. The community is actively growing and investing in quality of life, education and business expansion. The City of Sterling Municipal Electric Utility is known for its high standards in service delivery.

TYPE:  Full Time

SALARY:  
Salary based on qualifications. Benefits include 9 paid holidays, sick leave, vacation, health insurance, ICMA-RC retirement plan. The City of Sterling participates in KPERS. Signing Bonus.

POSITION INFORMATION: 

Minimum requirements include the possession of a high school diploma/GED, a valid driver’s license. Experience preferred. The position is safety sensitive requiring constant state of alertness.  If not previously obtained, individual must complete City apprentice requirements and make progress toward journeyman. Individual will possess aptitude in team work, organizing, planning and receiving instruction. Major duties include metering, various distribution construction, equipment operation, distribution and substation maintenance and planning.
