

Mission:
The Sterling Fire Department is dedicated to protecting lives and property by providing professional emergency services with compassion, courtesy, and integrity for our community.
Background:
City of Sterling/RCFD #1, St. 3 have 25 volunteers that cross-man City and RCFD #1, St. 3 trucks to respond to the various calls. All personnel are CPR/FF1 certified.
The City of Sterling/RCFD #1, St. 3 responds to an average of 75 calls per year which may consist of a variety of calls ranging from vehicle accidents, structure, and grass fires, haz-mat, natural disasters, severe weather, etc.
RCFD #1, St. 3 also responds to automatic aid calls throughout Rice County as well as mutual aid/ task force requests for Reno County Fire Districts, City of Hutchinson, Stafford County, McPherson County and other surrounding districts as needed.
Meetings are the 2nd and 4th Wednesdays at 7 pm. If interested, please feel free to pick up an application at Sterling City Hall or contact a current fire dept. member to serve as a volunteer firefighter for our community.
